Established in 2019, All India Institute of Medical Sciences Gorakhpur (also known as AIIMS Gorakhpur or AIIMS-G) is a government medical research institute located in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. It is one of the four ‘Phase-IV’ All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) announced by Ministry of Healthcare and Family Welfare (MHFW) under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY) in July 2014. The prime goal of AIIMS Gorakhpur is to impart quality education in medical stream and healthcare facilities and along with education and research to areas under-served of all such aspects. Mr. Ambrish Mithal was appointed as the President of the Institute while Ms Surekha Kishor as the director of the Institute.
AIIMS, Gorakhpur is one of the new AIIMS established as a part of the initiative under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY) by the Ministry of Health and family welfare, Govt. of India with the aim of correcting regional imbalances in quality tertiary level healthcare in the country and attaining self- sufficiency in graduate and postgraduate medical education and training. AIIMS, Gorakhpur will impart both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education in all branches of medical science and related field, along with nursing and paramedical training to bring together in one place, educational facilities of the highest order for the training of personnel in all branches of health care activities.
